Re: North Carolina and Duke
Hansbrough gets away with more walks than Shane Battier did flops (God, I never thought I'd say that). Like I said to ignore how much Hansbrough walks is just being a blind homer. The amount of acting that goes on by him and Greg Paulus is really comical as well, they just throw their arms up and get fouls called. Paulus falls down 90% of the time he shoots the ball or a man is within 2 feet of him going for a shot on the defensive end, Hasnbrough just throws his arms when there is contact (over exaggerating the whole thing) and the ref toots on the whistle and puts him on the line. I don't see either of the teams really having a legit shot of winning it all, UNC plays no defense and Duke is not going to shoot lights out from downtown 6 games in a row. Not sure if anyone has brought this up yet but UNC could be in a three way tie for 2nd come Sunday Night if they lose to Clemson.

Finally--Battier's off the hook from Double D...
And as for Paulus acting, I've seen Stevie Franchise and Juan Dixon do the same thing...no room to talk my friend!

Re: North Carolina and Duke
Hansbrough does travel alot. Not everytime he touches the ball, but he does tend to take a few more steps than allowed from time to time. I guess he gets that "special" treatment because of where our program is. When your program gets to the level where the Heels are then Im sure you might get that "special" treatment too.
Funny thing is that if he played for anyone elses team with the passion and heart he plays for the Heels, we wouldnt be having this conversation. Everyone in this thread that has talked [censored] about would love to have him on their team. he would help you all out alot. I guess its good to be hated. I guess thats what happens when you're good.
One more thing on the game. Duke was better than us on that night. Lawson or not. We didnt defend and we didnt make our shots. It doesnt matter where we finish in the regular season as long as we are there in March to have a chance to play our way to the Final Four then Im fine.

Dude--do you know how many times I cussed Josh McRoberts after a dunk or something "good" he did, when it simply was the wrong thing to do with the basketball? I yell at Demarcus Nelson thru the TV everytime he dribbles into a triple-team in the middle of the lane, regardless of if he makes it or not--because it's bad basketball.
The hatred for "Psycho-T" (the nickname, btw, is another reason to hate Baby Huey) stems from him playing as if he has never been taught how to play basketball at any time in his life, getting away with over-the-back & loose ball fouls on the inside because "he's working hard to rebound". The bull-in-a-china-shop school of bball in the paint is what upsets a lot of people, and the fact that he gets away with it upsets people even further.
I can honestly say if he played for Duke that I'd say the same thing 100%. He would be, by far, my least favorite Duke player ever. Just like I silently rooted for Dante Calabria and Ed Cota when they played for UNC b/c I liked their games, there have been Duke players I haven't liked b/c of their game. Cherokee Parks and Jeff Capel come to mind right off the bat.

Re: North Carolina and Duke
Honest to God, and I'm not just saying this I'll take Maryland's big men over Hansbrough.

Juan Dixon never behaved like Shane Battier, never. Dixon played most of his D on the permiter while a good defender he didn't need to fall down 10 times a game to get his numbers. I wish they'd cut down on all these charge calls, it's dumb to be on a fast break and just have some guy fall down (instead of really trying to play D). I've seen Paulus fall down without anybody even being hear him. I don't think you ever saw Juan Dixon falling down on every jumper he took either.

Re: North Carolina and Duke
I wasn't comparing Battier to either Dixon/Franchise. Dixon did some acting--he didn't do it a whole lot, but when he did--it was laughable.
Like how you disavowed any knowledge of Franchise doing that stuff...

Re: North Carolina and Duke
I can't believe I am saying this without puking but I would take Jeff Allen from VT over hansbrough.
-
Re: North Carolina and Duke
Haha he was only there one year he couldn't have done alot. Wanna talk about the flop Paulus displayed in last years NCAA Tournament? I'm not sure I've ever seen another player do that.
-
Re: North Carolina and Duke
To the comment about TH not knowing how to play
well how do you be an "All-American" 3 times and not know how to play....the guy averages a double-double, you gotta know how to play if you can do that
-
Re: North Carolina and Duke
Listen i'm a huge Duke fan but TH is nice it's that easy! For you that don't think the boy is any good you must be freakin retards!!!
-
Re: North Carolina and Duke
TH is not that good, 3 years from now I'll make the same posts about him that I make about JJ. Good college player but he's not going to get away with the nonsense in the NBA he does in the ACC. Go check out big Hansbrough's numbers when he plays a decent big man, something he will see every night in the NBA.
-
Re: North Carolina and Duke
I don't get that!!!
Who cares if he is or is not gonna be a good NBA player! Thats not why i'm saying he's good! I'm judging him from what he has done in college! You can't judge him from something he hasn't even done yet! TH is a great and one of the best big guys that has ever wore the baby blue! Trust me I hate saying that but he is that good!!!

Re: North Carolina and Duke
One of the best big men to ever play for UNC? We are talking about a school that has won 5 National Titles and played in 17 final fours. TH has yet to play in a final four, in his two acc games this year against good big men Maryland and Clemson he has looked very average. 6/15 against Maryland and 3/12 against Clemson for a combined shooting percentage of 33%. Please show me how your going to compare this guy to former Carolina players such as Cunningham, Jamison, Haywood, and May.
-
Re: North Carolina and Duke
I would say TH is better then May. Now for the others thats a toss up. But like I said be he is one of the best BIG men UNC has ever had! Not the best but one of them! He prolly has better stats then most of the guys you just named off!
-
Re: North Carolina and Duke
Hansbrough is not better than May...not even that close
-
Re: North Carolina and Duke
Mays wasn't even close to the production TH puts up... Don't come at me wit that weak shiY
-
Re: North Carolina and Duke
How did Clemson's James Mays get into this conversation? I do think it will be interesting to watch he and TH battle again tomorrow, maybe TH can shoot better than 3/12 this time.

Re: North Carolina and Duke

Re: North Carolina and Duke
May also had Felton and McCants in the lineup with him...Hansbrough basically carried UNC until Lawson and Ellington got there
Felton > Lawson...by a longshot
McCants > Ellington...Ellington has better potential
May > Hansbrough...and always will be
Ellington is the only one out of the bunch who has potential on the next level, and you could make a serious argument that he's the best bball player on the team
I like Carolina, I like Roy Williams and I like the program he runs...but people crack me up with this Hansbrough shiz...JJ Redick was a better basketball player than Hansbrough and I HATE JJ Redick with a passion, second only to Greg Paulus
Hansbrough has hit a ceiling, you don't see a lot of improvement in his ball skills from his freshman year to now and in case you've forgotten he is gonna turn 23 in 2008...not exactly a young cat
-
Re: North Carolina and Duke
I'm talking about that Mays from UNC. Just look at stats enough said!
-
Re: North Carolina and Duke
They are talking about the same guy, His name is Sean MAY.
And his stats are pretty damn good considering the players they had.
He is a better basketball player than TH.
-
Re: North Carolina and Duke
Look up his stats and then come talk to me! TH is better! Mays had a lot more help then TH to! Don't come at me wit the weak shiTTT
-
Re: North Carolina and Duke
You're a Duke fan and you are arguing for Hansbrough?? Hilarious. I like Hansbrough, but he is not better than May, or any other big guy we've had. Hansbrough is a very good college athlete, but so are tons over other guys at other schools. He wont be very good as a pro, but you can't down the kid just because he loves to play college ball.

Your not making alot of sense there henry. You say to bring in the stats and at the same time say that May won't have the stats TH does because there were other good players on that team and TH was alone the only one getting number for 2 years.
May was definitely better than TH and tons more athletic. Watching TH the past 2 games against DUKE and Clemson he is not that athletic and very clumsy.
